When modal is set to false, one and the same picture can be opened several times in several boxes (v5.7.0). Is this intended behaviour?

Some versions ago, this wasn't possible, which made more sense to me. Is this a bug or a feature?

Proper behaviour when re-clicking a link that started a non-modal box is to do nothing if that is the only floatbox open, or restack the associated floatbox to the z-index top if more than one non-modal box is present.
