No zoom with iOS7?

Enjoying version 6 and have sorted earlier compatibility probs due to my own unsupported techniques now changed to recommended.

Only thing left is that Mobile Safari with iOS7 on iPhone and iPad seems to ignore the zoom settings, and image gallery floatboxes open immediately at full size with no zoom-up effect from the calling anchor. Do you think some user-agent specific options settings would fix this, if it's possible to do this?

Have you fiddled with the mobileDoAnimations option? The default for this is false because most mobile devices don't have the horsepower required for clean-looking animations.

 That will teach me to RTFM!
Nearly good now, but the mobile zoom-up ends with a momentary full-size background-color blank box, before the full-size floatboxed image re-appears, giving a sort of flash effect. Have I got something else wrongly set or not set in the recommended way?
See http://thebritishbeardclub.org/gallerynew1.php and click/tap on any thumbnail with mobile Safari.

That's just a manifestation of underpowered mobile devices not being able to keep up with the animation redraw requests.

The final displayed image is not the same <img> element as the one that's shown zooming in. The final image is layed on top of the zoom image when it reaches full size, and the zoom image is discarded. Mobile Safari is simply deferring the rendering of that final image as a way of managing its limited rendering cycles. Nothing to be done on the Floatbox side; that's just what the browser does. It's a good example of why the default for mobileDoAnimations is false.

Thanks very much for the simple explanation, and at least I know why the action is different on Mobiles, being the default setting. I've now noticed that when I changed from the default setting, 'sometimes' the transition is completely smooth, and sometimes not.

I'll just go with how it is as default and not worry about the absence of zooming on Mobile.

Thanks as ever for your interest and all the best for the rest of the Holidays!
