click on a gallery, and then on a pic

It's a page that reads the xml from picasa, and makes galleries of it (I know, it seems redundant)

on my system (crunchbox linux, firefox-3.0 and firefox-3.5) nothing happens when I click on a picture.
With the old version it worked perfectly.
I've changed the 'rel' to 'class', removed everything that could interfere (css, javascript), did nothing to the js and css file (except setting the language in the js).
Still no luck.

I must be overlooking something trivial, but I can't find it.

I can find my way around php, css and html, but my javascript knowledge is poorly lacking
